The AMDA Foundation "Art at the Wall" Art Auction took on a new look this year, but it continued to be a popular and successful part of AMDA’s Annual Symposium. Each day during the meeting, several works of art were displayed at the Foundation booth; and AMDA members and friends bid in the silent auction.

The Foundation announced recipients of its newest award, the AMDA Foundation/Evercare® Awards for “improving the quality of life for persons living in nursing homes,” during AMDA’s 2008 Annual Symposium in Salt Lake City, UT. The three awards of $10,000 each reward nursing facilities for programs they have implemented to improve the quality of life for their residents.

Participants at the 2008 AMDA Foundation Futures Program brought enthusiasm and curiosity, and they went home with new tools and knowledge to enable them to be effective long term care practitioners. During the day-long program held at AMDA’s 2008 Annual Symposium, they heard AMDA leaders talk about risk management, practical approaches to long term care, niche professional areas such as research, and what a medical director’s typical day involves.
