At the 5th Annual Research Network meeting in Chicago November 11-13, 2005, members will have an opportunity to take the next steps forward on several fronts. |

QI Partnership Leaders Share Lessons, Plan Next Steps |

 Vol XVI, Jul `05 There has been good news and bad news when it comes to recruiting facilities for the Foundation's LTC-Quality Improvement (QI) Partnership study. "A newer generation of administrators has more appreciation for research, especially if these facility leaders have informed medical directors," said Marcia Yesko, RN, MA, NHA, the project's state nurse coordinator in Pennsylvania (one of the study's pilot states). However, she noted, there aren't enough of these enlightened leaders; and attempts to sign-up facilities met with many barriers. Nonetheless, she explained, the project has signed up 6 facilities in PA and is moving forward with data collection in the state. |

Foundation Sets Goal of 100% Research Network Profiles |

 Vol XVI, Jul `05 The Research Network is working to build a central database that would enable us to link member information with Online Survey, Certification and Reporting (OSCAR) data. To maximize the benefit of this data for facilities and practitioners nationwide, we need Network members to complete a brief on-line profile survey. While we have received responses for two-thirds of our membership (226 profiles in total), our goal is to have profiles from all of our Network members by August 31, 2005. |

 Vol XVI, Jul `05 The AMDA Foundation Research Network set up kiosks during the National Association of Directors of Nursing/Long Term Care (NADONA) annual meeting this summer to gather survey data regarding physician and nursing attitudes toward urinary incontinence and overactive bladder management and treatment in LTC. |

 Vol XVI, Jul `05 The works of AMDA member and photographer Jeffrey Levine, MD, CMD, have graced covers of the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association (JAMDA) and AMDA's 25th Anniversary Commemorative Faces of Aging. Now, AMDA members and others will be able to bid on his touching and beautiful photographs of elderly Americans during the first annual AMDA Foundation Silent Art Auction, to be held at the AMDA Annual Symposium, March 16 -19, 2006, in Dallas, TX. |
