"This has been a great way to support the Foundation. There is some terrific artwork here that reminds us how creative, talented, and productive many of our residents still are," said Dennis Stone, MD, CMD, at the AMDA Foundation's first annual art auction. Over $35,000 was raised during the event held during AMDA's 2006 Annual Symposium. In addition to silent and live auctions, the evening featured gourmet desserts and jazz.

Attendees had the opportunity to bid on more than 100 donated items, including artwork produced by nursing facility residents and photographs by AMDA members Jeffrey Levine, MD, CMD, and Mario Cornacchione, DO, CMD. Net proceeds from the event will go to support the Foundation and its research studies.

"Our first annual art auction was a tremendous success. The works of art were amazing to see, and everyone got in on the spirit of the event. We are grateful to the generous support of AMDA members and their commitment to long term care research," said Foundation Executive Director Gwendolyn Maddox. She added, "We are already planning to make next year's auction even more exciting and successful."

The AMDA Foundation offers a special thanks to Evercare, Amgen, and Sanofi-Aventis, who sponsored the event.
