Vol XXIII, April `06
The Futures Program, which is designed to introduce follows and residents to long term care and careers as medical directors, has continued to draw crowds and garner enthusiastic reviews. Here is just a sampling of what this year's participants had to say:
  • Stuart Kanter: This was an outstanding program. I was not aware of--but was pleased about--the relationship AMDA has with long term care policymakers. I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of Annual Symposium participants. I was interested in long term care before I came to the meeting; this solidified my thoughts.
  • James Birch, Jr.: Reflecting on some of the sessions, I now have a better understanding about Medicare rules for physician reimbursement. I also have a stronger knowledge about the treatment of common diseases. I've learned what is required of me to become a CMD--I am definitely interested in pursuing this.
  • Priya Mendiratta: I loved the energy and the gathering of like minds. The programs on administrative issues, Medicare Part D, and drug therapy were all enlightening. I think the pain management program was the best. It changed the way I will treat patients.
