"The AMDA Foundation Futures Program opened my eyes about long term care and really helped shape the direction of my career," said Cari R. Levy, MD, CMD, Co-Chair of the AMDA Foundation Futures Program and a Futures alumnae. Levy and Co-Chair Cheryl L. Phillips, MD, CMD, have planned another enlightening program for 2006 that promises to inspire others to pursue long term care careers.

The Futures Program, held during AMDA's Annual Symposium, is a unique opportunity for residents and fellows with an interest in geriatrics to learn about the numerous opportunities in long term care. Over the past five years, more than 300 primary care residents and geriatric fellows have participated in this program; and, for many, such as Cari Levy, it has marked the beginning of their long term care careers.

All PGY II or III Internal Medicine or Family Physician residents and PGY IV or V Geriatric Medicine Fellows are eligible. Participants will receive:

  • Admission to the Futures Program
  • Complimentary registration for the AMDA Annual Symposium, March 16-19, 2006
  • Air transportation to and from Dallas
  • Lodging while at the Annual Symposium (shared with another Futures participant)
  • AMDA membership for one year

Interested individuals may obtain an application at www.amdafoundation.org/futures. The deadline for applications is November 30, 2005. The program is supported by Janssen Pharmaceutica.
