The AMDA Foundation Research Network set up kiosks during the National Association of Directors of Nursing/Long Term Care (NADONA) annual meeting this summer to gather survey data regarding physician and nursing attitudes toward urinary incontinence and overactive bladder management and treatment in LTC. The survey was similar to one involving physicians conducted at AMDA's Annual Symposium in New Orleans this past March. However, the Network conducted focus groups with nurses -led by Barbara Resnick, RN, PhD- and revised questions accordingly for this audience.

The NADONA survey is part of a multi-phase project to assess attitudes and identify barriers to appropriate management and treatment of these geriatric syndromes. This phase also will include surveys from members of the National College of Geriatric Nurse Practitioners (NCGNP) and the National Association of Geriatric Nursing Assistants (NAGNA).

The research for this study is being conducted by the Research Network under the guidance of Principal Investigator Larry Lawhorne, MD, CMD, and Co-Investigator Joseph Ouslander, MD, CMD.
