Vol XXX, Feb 07 Two of the pieces are works from members of the Montgomery County, MD-based Senior Artists Alliance. This group of senior artists, including painters, sculptors, and photographers, exhibits its work at galleries and museums throughout the state. Painters Rhoda Ostrow—and her "Art for Art's Sake"—and Donna Baron—"Cliff Top"—will be represented at the auction. "Our group is pleased to be part of this art auction. We're very proud of the work we do, and this is a great opportunity to participate in an important cause and expose a national audience to the talent of many older artists," said Alliance President Paul Pincus, a sculptor. Another artist featured at the auction will be James Dean, a Louisiana-based artist. Auction attendees will be able to bid on one of Dean's "Pete the Cat" prints. Pete is Dean's real-life cat and a favorite model of his. As Dean explained, "I painted him deep blue because it is one of my favorite colors and also because I didn't know if people would want a painting of a black cat….Without thinking about it, I just stuck the painting of Pete in the bin at one of my art shows and was overwhelmed with the response." He added, "The main thing that I have learned from painting Pete is how many people love cats, and I have to agree that they are very special." Make plans now to attend our second annual art auction. It will be an unforgettable evening for fun, for the Foundation, and for art lovers everywhere. |
