Vol III, Jan `03
Investigators from the Foundation's Long Term Care Research Network are conducting a survey of medical directors and attending physicians during the AMDA Annual Symposium. Physicians may take the survey online at Internet Alley (Anaheim Room), at computer terminals in the Crystal Foyer (near Registration), or at the AMDA Foundation Booth (#508) in the Exhibit Hall. Hardcopies of the survey will also be available.

The research project, Factors that Affect Physician Prescribing of Statins in Long Term Care Facilities has received partial funding from Pfizer and examines the physician decision-making processes surrounding the use of lipid-lowering medications. Project leaders Jurgis Karuza, PhD, John Voytas, MD, and Ron Fisher, MD created the survey to cover topics such as physician training, patient and facility characteristics, knowledge of National Cholesterol Education Program guidelines, and external factors such as formulary issues and collaboration with other long term care professionals.

Those who take the survey, and fill out and drop off an entry form, will be eligible to win a $100 gift certificate from Amazon.com. Please support the Long Term Care Research Network by taking the survey in Orlando.
