If you were to apply the following checklist to partnerships in which you may be involved, how many of the elements are present, and to what degree?

  • Time, mutual respect, and good manners
  • Flexible hierarchies
  • Clear and explicit common purposes
  • Comprehensive paradigms that support change
  • Timely and mutually agreed-upon communication
  • Business relationships, as well as personal relationships

Through our research, we have realized that successful collaborations--such as this National Quality Coalition--are made, not born. Examining and emulating elements of successful coalitions may help us, in turn, partner successfully.
