Based on our experiences to date, the project team suggests the following:
- Be flexible. Research in this setting requires compromise, and sometimes revision, to overcome the unique barriers nursing homes present. Learning to balance scientific integrity with practicality is key to success in this setting.
- Create appropriate infrastructure. Future Research Network projects will benefit from the staff, policies, and other infrastructure developed during this study; using existing infrastructure can help you hit the ground running with your project.
- Use data to increase efficiency. While infrastructure is invaluable, identifying and using existing data to increase efficiency can save you time and money.
These and other lessons will be compiled for dissemination in the near future. |
