Nursing Home Campaign Summit |

 Vol XXII, Oct `06 Nearly 500 long-term care providers, caregivers, medical and quality improvement experts, government officials, and consumers met on September 29, 2006 at a Quality Summit in Washington, DC, to launch the Achieving Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes campaign.
The groundbreaking campaign will focus on cooperation, collaboration, and commitment. Each stakeholder has agreed to voluntarily adopt roles and share responsibility to fulfill the campaign’s mission of improving nursing home quality of care and quality of life.
Keynote Addresses
Keynote speakers included a blue-ribbon roster of officials committed to quality long-term care:
- Dr. Mark McClellan, Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services;
- Former Senator Bob Kerrey, Co-Chair, National Commission for Quality Long-Term Care;
- Former Speaker Newt Gingrich, National Commission for Quality Long-Term Care; and
- Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), Chairman, Senate Finance Committee.
