Better Glycemic Control in the Long-Term Care Facility
|
The primary aims of the study are to:
- Determine if utilization of a blood glucose monitoring system will produce better glycemic control among residents; and
- Establish a quality improvement process for better glycemic control in the long term care facility that includes active participation of the facility medical director in removing residents from sliding scale protocols.
This is a process control study which seeks to modify both physician and facility staff behavior by encouraging an analytical pro-active approach to improve glycemic control rather than a reactive approach to each abnormal value. |
