Vol XXXII, Sep `07
Late this spring, the AMDA Foundation submitted a grant proposal to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Foundation will be the subcontractor to the Center for Health Systems Research and Analysis (CHSRA) on the proposed project, entitled “Demonstrating the Feasibility and Value of Linking Data to Improve Nursing Home Quality.”
The project will demonstrate the feasibility and value of creating a longitudinal, linked database that can be maintained and made available to multiple researchers wishing to address issues of importance in the area of nursing home quality of care. Specific aims include creating a process for supplementing the linked database with more detailed, provider-level data collected through surveys of AMDA members.

The project also will create a foundation for an ongoing, sustainable, researchable database. Future efforts will expand the database by adding additional years of data to it and by adding new data sources, such as Medicare claims. The database will be made available to Research Network members and possibly other researchers as well.
