Connecting with other researchers and organizations that support research is essential for members of the AMDA Foundation Research Network and other practitioners interested in geriatric studies. One source of education, information, and networking comes from the federal Veterans Health Administration (VA). Over the past several years, the VA has developed several Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Centers (GRECCs) to advance and integrate research, education, and clinical achievements in geriatrics and gerontology into the VA health care system (www1.va.gov/grecc). There currently are 21 GRECCs across the country—from Ann Arbor and Baltimore to Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, and St. Louis. The centers have conducted a wide range of studies and serve as resources in aging research and education beyond the VA community.
