Three AMDA Foundation/Evercare® Awards of $10,000 each will be presented at the AMDA Annual Symposium, March 6-9, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Image “As the professional association of medical directors and physicians practicing across the long-term care continuum, AMDA constantly seeks for new ways to inspire best practices in the industry,” said Jonathan Musher, MD, CMD, Chairman of the AMDA Foundation. “We’re very pleased to join with Evercare in recognizing the outstanding achievements of nursing homes through these awards.”

Image “Evercare’s roots are in pioneering new approaches to nursing home care that focus on improving health outcomes and quality of life for residents,” said Dr. John Mach, a geriatrician and CEO of Evercare. “By recognizing and publicizing nursing homes’ innovative programs, we hope to advance the nursing home industry’s operating excellence.”

The types of programs that might be selected for these awards include:

  • Intergenerational activities
  • Improved consistency of staffing
  • Improved comprehensive advanced care planning

The programs selected for awards must be generated and funded by the nursing home. At least one of the awards will be given specifically for improved advanced care planning and/or palliative care programs.

The deadline for nominations is November 30, 2007, and winners will be notified no later than January 15, 2008. The winners will be selected by a group of experts appointed by the AMDA Foundation.
