The AMDA Foundation "Art at the Wall" Art Auction took on a new look this year, but it continued to be a popular and successful part of AMDA’s Annual Symposium. Each day during the meeting, several works of art were displayed at the Foundation booth; and AMDA members and friends bid in the silent auction. Among the most popular pieces were photographs by AMDA members Jeffrey Levine, MD, CMD, and Mario Cornacchione, DO, CMD, and a painting completed by residents at the Rowan Community facility in Colorado and donated by Cari Levy, MD, CMD. The painting from the Rowan Community, the largest work in the auction, featured birch trees painted in vivid colors. It was inspired by Marion Blado, a volunteer in the facility’s activities department, who led residents in creating the painting.

The auction brought the Foundation a total of nearly $7,000. “It is great to see the artistic expressions of nursing facility residents, AMDA members and staff, and others alongside the works of professional artists. And it’s exciting to watch the bidding wars as people seek to win their favorite pieces and support the Foundation,” said AMDA Foundation Executive Director Gwendolyn Maddox.

Elsewhere, the Wall of Caring continues to garner the support of Annual Symposium attendees. Nearly 60 tributes came in over the course of the meeting for a total of $20,745, plus a generous $20,000 matching grant from Ortho Biotech.
