Vol XXXVI, Oct '08
The Foundation is using its new IRB for three studies for which the organization is seeking investigators and participants.

The projects are:
  • Better Glycemic Control in the Long Term Care Facility
  • Use of the Rivastigmine (Exelon®) Patch in Assisted Living and Long Term Care Facilities – Staff Preference Over Other Forms of Cholinesterase Inhibitor Therapy
  • Care and Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism in the Long Term Care Facility
For a description of these studies and the types of investigators and participants needed, go here.

These studies will begin immediately after the Foundation compiles and organizes the research teams and gets IRB approval. “The IRB approval process shouldn’t take long. We’re able to waive consent because there is minimal risk involved,” says Joe Tkacz. He adds, “Funding is in place, and that is the hardest part; so we are off to an excellent start.”
