Foundation fundraising efforts during the AMDA Annual Symposium were not only successful; but they also were inspirational, fun, and exciting. The Wall of Caring and Art at the Wall silent auction brought in over $20,000 for the Foundation.  The donations from the Wall of Caring will support the 2009 Futures Program.

As usual, the Wall of Caring attracted many touching tributes to colleagues, patients, families, and friends (CLICK HERE to read tributes for 2008 & 2009). Donors honored—among others--AMDA leaders such as the late William Dodd, MD, CMD; Charles Crecelius, MD, CMD; the late Andy Weinberg, MD, CMD; Dan Osterweil, MD, CMD; Leon Kroybill, MD, CMD; and Dan Haimowitz, MD, CMD.

The silent auction took on a new look this year, with dozens of non-art items—including tote bags designed and decorated by residents of the Villages at Robinwood in Maryland--and a ‘buy-now’ price on everything. Among the most popular artworks were photographs by AMDA member and accomplished artist Jeffrey Levine, MD, CMD, and AMDA member Mario Cornacchione, DO, CMD. Also popular were a handmade quilt by an anonymous resident at the Maria Joseph Center, leadership coaching from the Chinsky Leadership Institute, and tickets and a private backstage tour for The Lion King on Broadway.

“The enthusiasm and generosity of AMDA members and friends are the heart of the Foundation and our research activities. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed to the Wall of Caring and participated in the silent auction,” says AMDA Foundation Chair Jonathan Musher, MD, CMD.
