Spenser is a 11 1/2 year old yellow lab who has traveled to the office, nursing homes and assisted living facilities with me since he was a puppy.

Far friendlier, better looking and smarter than his owner, Spenser brings smiles to staff and patients (both with and without dementia). He has accompanied patients by himself in elevators, occasionally jumped into their beds to keep them company, and dressed up for their Halloween parties. He has also been happy to eat food, most of it offered voluntarily, although he's not too proud to check out the garbage cans and also once found a hot dog of unknown age that an AL resident had left in an artificial tree! Once they meet Spenser, staff no longer puts on the pretense of caring for me at all; instead, they ask how Spenser is doing.

Spenser accompanies me to a variety places, including: ManorCare of Yardley, Crestview North, Attleboro Nursing and Rehab, Langhorne Gardens, Silver Lake and Statesman, Legacy Gardens, Arden Courts, the Brunswick at Attleboro, Statesman Woods, Floral Vale and Sunrise of Lower Makefield. He has even joined me at patients’ houses (with house calls) and the office!
