Bud is a seven year old German Shepherd, who joined the Faust household in June 2003 when he and Ann adopted each other at the animal shelter in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

Ann is the Reflections Program Coordinator at Hacienda Rehabilitation and Care Center in Sierra Vista. Bud visits Hacienda about once a week, bringing smiles, laughter, and yes, sometimes, tears to the residents when they remember pets who have shared their lives. Bud visits upwards of 43 residents each time he "goes to work", visiting not only the Reflections Unit, but the long term and rehabilitation sections of Hacienda.

Bud has made many friends at Hacienda. Residents and staff alike look forward to his visits. Residents do not hesitate to remind Ann to bring him by the next time he comes to visit. Many of the residents have a picture of him/herself with Bud on their bulletin boards. Bud looks forward to these visits as much as the residents do. He will give you an hour to stop petting or hugging him. He is patient and calm and loves being 'loved on'.

Bud also enjoys showing his talents by going through his routine which includes: sit, down, high five, shake, speak, say your prayers, get the paper, and "bang" where he lays down and plays dead. He enjoys playing ball in the Reflections Unit courtyard with residents and getting a refreshing drink from the birdbath.

Bud understands what going to work means, and he races Ann to the truck on these days. If Bud and the residents had their way, he would be there every day as the facility dog. Until that day comes, Bud will continue his weekly ministry of bringing smiles, comfort, laughter, and love to the residents and staff at Hacienda.
