In May 2007 I purchased an 8 week old shitzu puppy. She soon became a member of our facility family. Good Samaritan Society Millard is a 112 skilled bed nursing facility, located in Omaha Nebraska.
![]() Lady Chue & Lilly, Good Samaritan Society Millard We let the residents pick names for her and she soon became "Lady Chue". She comes to work every day, has pet therapy, ball chasing and frolics in the courtyard. Some residents even get down on the floor to play with her. We had a resident who stayed in bed most of the time; she was sad and kept to herself. One day they got her up for one hour and she came to meet Chue and her face lit up with delight; she was petting and talking to Chue. Chue behaved very well with the resident, very gentle and caring, like she could understand what she was feeling. We were very pleased with Chue's behavior and from this day forward they have been close friends, coming to see Chue every chance she can. The residents' family was very pleased by the pet therapy and the connection between the two. In March of 2009 Lilly was introduced to Millard Good Samaritan as a therapy dog. Lilly is a pug and was rescued from the Humane Society when she was 5 months old. Lilly comes to work everyday and greets the residents with a snort. She enjoys playing with her friend Chue and going outside. Together these two dogs bring enjoyment to the residents and their families. |
