Charlie Puckett, Charlestown Retirement Community - Renaissance

Charlie was purchased from the son of one of our residents in Renaissance Gardens Assisted Living and comes to “work” every day. Everyone agreed that it was a great idea to get a pet for our residents, but we didn’t know what a difference Charlie would make.

Charlie is a beautiful pure bred Black Labrador Retriever, who came to us when he was 10 weeks old. The residents and staff have had the pleasure of watching Charlie grow and watching his unique personality develop. Charlie has gone through obedience school, and is a very well behaved boy. He is Renaissance Gardens lovable friend. Our residents and staff are always stopping by to get their hugs and kisses.

One of Charlie’s special friends (a resident) was diagnosed with cancer, and when she was nearing the end of her life and confined to her room, her daughter came to get Charlie and took him to visit with her Mom. We have pictures of Charlie on Mrs. C’s lap, and her smile was never bigger.

It’s hard to believe that Charlie turned 1 year old on August 6th. We had a big 1st birthday party for him. Charlie had a special cake shaped like a big bone, and because chocolate isn’t good for dogs, his “chocolate” icing was actually carob. He just loved it, and didn’t seem to mind at all that we gave him healthy icing.
