Pet's Name: Portia  Portia, Cameron Glen Rehabilitation Center Bred into a champion family, there were high hopes for Bertchire’s A Flatout Joyride aka Portia, now a 6 year old flat-coated retriever. However, health problems as a pup derailed her ability to be shown or bred. But the loss to the competitive dog show world was a gain for the patients and residents of Cameron Glen Rehabilitation Center in Reston, VA. Portia, now a certified Canine Good Citizen and International Therapy Dog and her handler, Sheila Consaul, regularly visit Cameron Glen sharing their time and their love as part of the Fairfax [County , VA] Pets on Wheels (FPOW) pet therapy program. This is a picture of Portia at Cameron Glen celebrating Christmas with the residents. Portia was also recently featured in an article published in The Arrow magazine, a national sorority publication, that mentions Portia and her work in pet therapy at Cameron Glen.
