Brody Divya, Mount Si Transitional Health Center

Brody Divya, a little male Pomeranian was born on 23rd February 2007 on a farm near Covington, Washington. He was the smallest of the litter. I have owned Brody since the age of 7 weeks. In the initial weeks he shared our home with my other dog, Lexi, and my husband and daughter.

It soon became apparent that Brody was extremely social as he mingled with family and neighbors. I had been working in long term care for a long time and would visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult family homes as part of my job.

For the past two years, Brody has been coming with me on my daily visits to visit with patients in their rooms or to sit at their bedside if the patient was totally disabled. He is extremely well known by my patients, staff and other people in the nursing home. He visits Hallmark Manor, Life Care Center of Federal Way, Burien nursing home and several others.

He is extremely well behaved; he sits when offered a treat, walks up to the water dispenser when he is thirsty and makes his needs known. Brody licks the resident’s hands, wags his tail and listens to them as they call and pet him. He does not bark or snap at the residents and is very loving at all times. Patients look forward to his visits all the time.

Brody has become a large part of the nursing facilities where I visit, and is much sought after as a pet therapy dog. This is one of my favorite pictures of him, sitting in the deck of our house covered in snow in December 2008.
