Hello, my name is Samantha, Canine Director of Resident Relations at Westmoreland Manor and I’ll take you on a tour to show you what an important job I have. We’ll take the elevator to the fourth floor. Once the unit door opens we’ll visit Mrs. H. She prefers to have breakfast in her room so I sit by the bed and listen to her tell me about the dogs she used to call her family. She misses them but the time with me makes her remember the happy times with them.  Samantha, Westmoreland Manor We’ll ride down to second floor. Mr. Z is in the hall. I usually just sit nearby so he can pat my head. He calls me “Duke” but I don’t mind. He thinks I’m his old dog and the smile on his face is worth being called the wrong name. Next stop is Miss B’s room. She is making a decision about her treatments today. We’ve weighed the pros and cons (well, I listened) but whatever her choice, I’ll be by her side. You’ll have to wait outside…HIPAA, you know. Back to the first floor… I know it’s the Lobby because I can smell the Snack Shop’s popcorn. I have a number of residents to visit here. We’re up to the “army years” as I listen to the story of Mr. D’s life. Mr. T is a new resident so I want to give him extra attention today. Mrs. K’s family will be coming in soon and I like when her grandson plays with me. As you can see, I keep pretty busy with 408 residents but if I don’t get my visits done today, I can make them tomorrow.
