Sophie, a 10-year-old black standard poodle, and Tessa, a 4-year-old buff-colored "behemoth" cockapoo weighing in at about 40 pounds, make rounds virtually every day with their subordinate, Karl Steinberg MD CMD, who is a full-time SNFologist in San Diego County and the Immediate Past President of California's chapter of AMDA.
 Sophie & Tessa - Village Square They visit about 15 skilled facilities and a number of assisted living settings as well as making home visits from time to time. When Karl has to go to work without them, the residents and staff ask where the dogs are and are none too happy at their absence! They like to get up in bed (when invited, of course!) and snuggle with the residents, and Sophie tends to "nose" people's hands to make them keep petting her until she gets her fill. They brighten up people's day immensely, including their dad's, and he hopes that if there is such a thing as karma, he will get a tiny percentage of the points Sophie and Tessa are racking up!! He wouldn't mind coming back as one of them for his next life. Karl Steinberg, MD |
