Title Assessing Physician Practices that Influence End of Life Care in the Nursing Home
Aim The aim of the study is to describe and clarify physicians' roles and their levels of involvement surrounding end of life issues in the nursing home setting. The study seeks to determine the frequency of a number of interventions in the last weeks of life; the availability and use of hospice; the extent of physicians' involvement in discussions concerning end of life issues with the resident/family; and physician awareness of the resident's spiritual needs.
