My name is Jezzebelle and I am a therapy dog working at a local Seattle nursing home.
![]() Jezzebelle, The Kline Galland Nursing Home After I became certified as a therapy dog my mom started taking me to work just about every day to visit the residents...my friends. My first introduction to this therapy dog business was when I was still a puppy. Mom placed me on the lap of a nearly blind gentleman who used to raise dogs. With tears in his eyes and a cuddle for me, we became best buddies. His daughter would push my friend in his wheelchair and with me on his lap. My nose was in the air and my paws were crossed (becIause I am a lady you see) everyone knew what I was thinking "Ah yes, this is how life should be!" I know which residents (and staff members) have doggie cookies for me. The "fuzz therapy" I provide has helped residents and staff alike. Many miss the animals they have loved in the past, others who were cautious about dogs have found I am a safe friend and now pet me without trepidation. There are few jobs in this world where the main goal is to give smiles to others for a pat on the head, a scratch behind the ear, and if I am really lucky, a cookie. This is what I call doggie heaven. Submitted by: Kim Walton ARNP/ADON Kline Galland Nursing Home Seattle, WA |
