I was just a puppy when I was abandoned along a road in a strange area. I wandered around looking for food and water for what seemed like forever. During a thunderstorm, I was found by a nice lady in her yard; she picked me up and carried me into the house. They tell me I was covered with ticks and had a fever; I was down to just hair and bones. Fortunately Betsy is a nurse, and her husband, Chris, is a doctor. They cleaned me up and gave me medicine and water in a syringe until I felt better. That was 9 years ago, and life has been good ever since, although I still hate thunder or being alone.

My new humans had two other dogs, and Betsy said we looked like “the three stooges”, whoever they are, and that’s when Chris started calling me “Larry”. Now I am well known in the nursing homes where I work. It is pretty easy, as I follow Chris around, and let people pet and fuss over me. Once a man was on the floor shaking, and I laid down beside him until help arrived.

The humans that live in the nursing homes and the staff there are always happy to see me. They say I am good because I don’t jump, bark, or lick. I am tall enough that people can easily pet me while they sit in their wheel chairs. I love to rest on the mats next to the beds; I never see anyone else lay on them, so they must put them there for me. I am so lucky to have a great job where I can bring joy to people that love me!
