Vol XLI, Dec '09 Pennsylvania chapter leader and 2008 AMDA Medical Director of the Year Kenneth Brubaker, MD, CMD, says, “There is no better way to expose our students to long term care than to attend the AMDA meeting. In Pennsylvania, there are at least six geriatric fellowship programs; so it seems self-evident that PMDA should step up to the plate by committing funds to the AMDA Foundation in support of the Futures program.” He adds, “We hope that our action will encourage other states to do the same. I cannot think of any better way to encourage and support fellows/residents.” By contributing to the Futures program, state chapters help sponsor the learning and mentoring of young physicians who are tomorrow’s long term care leaders. Many Futures alumni have gone on to become dedicated researchers, passionate long term care practitioners, strong and respected interdisciplinary team leaders, and enthusiastic AMDA supporters.
