Interest has been building on the part of individual AMDA members to develop a mechanism to share international best practice models of long term care. At the same time, the International Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology (IAGG) has asked JAMDA Editor and Foundation Board member, Dr. John Morley, to serve as their contact for an IAGG focus group on nursing homes. Dr. Morley will participate in an IAGG meeting with the World Health Organization in June 2010 that will explore activities and initiatives that may be of interest to AMDA and its members.
The AMDA Board has approved the establishment of an International
Interest Group, similar to the Assisted Living Interest Group, to give
members an opportunity to exchange information and opportunities. While
the initiative does not have any funding to undertake formal
programming, we would like to begin by providing this web page to begin
the conversation. |
