The AMDA Foundation/Pfizer Quality Improvement Awards, now in their 12th year, present an important and unique opportunity to spotlight the documented good innovative programs do in long term care. Three awards of $7,500 each will support proposed initiatives that focus on facility staff education, quality improvement programs, research on interventions and treatment, and health literacy to directly enhance the quality of care provided to patients in long term care settings. The application deadline is December 12, 2011.

What can these awards do for you? As a past AMDA Foundation QI award winner and researcher Steven Handler, MD, noted, “The Foundation QI awards are valuable opportunities because they give you both visibility and credibility. They give you instant recognition as someone with an interest in research, and it exposes you to resources you wouldn’t otherwise have access to.” Dr. Handler gives the Foundation—starting with his participation in the Futures Program—with helping to establish his research career.
